Sandra Jean Taylor BS, IBCLC, CSOM, CST is Albuquerque's only International Board Certified Lactation Consultant who is also a Certified Specialist in Orofacial Myology. She works with families across the lifespan, from latch to lip seal. I have a B.S. in Nutritional Science from the University of New Hampshire. My course of study included both clinical nutrition therapy as well as holistic approaches. I pride myself in staying up to date with both clinical research and food trends. The field of nutrition is forever changing and the body of knowledge growing. I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2014. As part of my path to becoming an IBCLC, I took the Certified Lactation Educator Counselor or CLEC course from the University of California, San Diego. I was also a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor for Albuquerque's Northwest Valley office for 3 years. As my lactation practice grew and evolved I began to learn more and more about how the tongue worked and how much it impacts our overall health. I knew I needed to learn more about the tongue and orofacial complex. I am a graduate of the Graduate School of Behavioral Health Sciences Certified Specialist in Orofacial Myology (CSOM) Summer 2019 cohort. The main instructor for that certificate is Sandra Coulson of the Coulson Institute in Denver, Colorado. Sandra is a pioneer in the field of orofacial myology and I have been honored to study under her. Through my course of study in orofacial myology, I took the leap and have enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University for Speech Language Pathology. My goal is continue my work with infants and young children and increase my skills in feeding therapy and oral motor development.
